NAACP Website Award

On February 17, 2008 the Historic Women of Allegany County and African American History of Allegany County educational websites were awarded the 2008 Humanitarian Service Award by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Allegany County Chapter. The award is given in appreciation of the two recent works which will "promote an awareness and appreciation of the history of both Women and African Americans of Allegany County, Maryland, and which serves as excellent education tools for use in local public schools, libraries, and the worldwide web network." Depicted in the photo, are from left to right, the Reverend Alfred Deas of the Cumberland Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church, Albert Feldstein, who accepted the Award and along with Jill Craig and the Western Maryland Historical Library developed the websites, and Norma Blacke Bourdeau, President of the Allegany County NAACP.
